Tony Ferguson blasts LW champ McGregor

MMA Update – Earlier this month, lightweight contender Tony Ferguson extended his win-streak to nine with a win over the division’s former champion, Rafael Dos Anjos. One week later, Khabib Nurmagomedov scored a similarly impressive win over Michael Johnson, extending his record to a ridiculous 24-0 in the process. Given their current streaks, either man could easily be awarded the next crack at UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor. Because McGregor is currently enjoying some time off, however, it’s likely that they’ll wind up fighting each other for an interim lightweight title in the meantime.

Whoever wins this potential interim title bout would almost certainly fight McGregor to unify the lightweight title when he returns from his hiatus. Tony Ferguson, however, is confident that McGregor wants no part of him, and will do whatever he can to avoid this prospective showdown.

“That dude does not want any part of me,” Ferguson said of McGregor. “That dude got beat by number five in the world, Nate Diaz, and everyone’s talking about him being the best, the best, the best. I’m like, ‘dude, you got beat by number five, I’m number three or number two.’ I’m the only name that he hasn’t thrown out there in the wind.”

“He doesn’t want any part of this,” Ferguson continued. “Go ahead, you have a little pass from me. Go enjoy your family time. Do your thing, enjoy your life. You have some money, go ahead and go spend it. Do your thing, relax. Enjoy your time trying to find you. And while you’re doing that I’m going to be over here wrecking this sh*t, me and my crew, and we’re going to go onto the next stage – which is when you come back, we’re going to wreck your ass. I’m going to stay here, I’m going to be ready.”
