Kelvin Gastelum wants Anderson Silva next

Kelvin Gastelum ufc update

MMA Update: While some may not be too quick to give Kelvin the full credit he deserves after knocking out Vitor Belfort at UFC Fight Night 106, seeing as how “The Phenom” has looked like a shell of his former self over his last three losses, the win is huge for Kelvin in many ways.

For starters, it gives him a nice feather in his cap, as taking out a living legend with name value can only benefit your resume. Furthermore, it shows that his decision to stay at Middleweight was the right choice, as he no longer has to worry about cutting weight, missing his mark and losing money and fights.

After talking out Tim Kennedy at UFC 206 and Belfort in Fortaleza, Brazil, Kelvin wants to up the stakes and face perhaps the greatest mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter in the history of the sport, Anderson Silva. And while “The Spider” is also not what he once was, he still proved a decent challenge and trying to further your name at his expense won’t come easy.

Just ask Derek Brunson.

That said, while the fight isn’t a popular matchup to many should it come to fruition, the bout could be interesting to say the least. A win for Gastelum will give him three straight wins at 185 pounds against opposition many could only dream of.

A win for “The Spider,” however, proves that he still has plenty left in the tank and he isn’t ready to give up the sport for younger fighters like Kelvin. With the rest of the top-ranked fighters jockeying for championship position, Silva and Gastelum aren’t quite there yet.

But, a win for either man over the other definitely puts them in the discussion.
