Amir Khan interested to Fight Mcgregor

Amir Khan reveals he would be more than willing accept a fight under MMA rules against UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor.
In the world of combat sports, the argument between boxing fans and mixed martial arts fans over which sport is truly the best has raged on for decades.
The closest fans got to settling the score was back in 2010 when UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture submitted former boxing champion James Toney at UFC 116. But with both Couture and Toney past their prime when they entered the cage, fans left with more questions than answers.
Flash forward six years and one of the hottest topics in all of sports is the possibility of Floyd Mayweather Jr., boxing’s pound-for-pound best and box office kingpin, squaring off against reigning UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor.
But according to Amir Khan, who has been actively seeking a matchup with Mayweather for the last half a decade, even if the bout was possible, he doesn’t expect his fellow boxer to accept it.
“I don’t think Mayweather would ever take it,” “When Mayweather knows he’s in a real fight, he just backs out of it. It was good hype while it lasted but I knew it was never going to happen. If it did happen, it would be the biggest fight ever.”
While the bout between Mayweather and McGregor was never seriously close to becoming a reality, it was widely believed if it had come to fruition then it would most likely be a boxing match, giving the man known as ‘Money’ the clear advantage.
Khan, however, says if asked he would be more than willing to meet McGregor on his home turf.
“I’m a little different in that sense, where I would get into a cage and I would fight in MMA rules, so that’s the difference between me and Mayweather,” said Khan. “I would definitely give it a go. It’s something to learn, as well. I’m at that age where I’m still learning, adapting and getting better. So I still have time under me as well. I’m still a young lad and got loads left in me.
Khan co-owns Super Fight League, India’s biggest MMA promotion, and has been seen working out alongside former UFC champions Georges St-Pierre and Andrei Arlovski in the past. But even with this experience, however small, Khan recognizes it would unrealistic for him to find success without focussing 100-percent on MMA.
“Even if I started to train MMA next year, I’d only be 30 years old,” said Khan. “I could stop and train for a full year and become a good MMA fighter. It’s in our blood to fight. I’ve been fighting all my life, so for me, I don’t think it’d be a problem for me to learn and switch over to the sport.
“It just depends on the weight category. But look, as a fighter, that’s a fight I would take. McGregor is a massive name in MMA, and I’m a big name in boxing, so globally, I think it would be a massive fight. Sometimes, you have to put friendship aside and you have to take it in the cage or in the ring. But yeah, if that fight comes up to me, I’m not one to back away from it.”
McGregor is currently scheduled to rematch Nate Diaz at UFC 202 on Aug. 20 at the T-Mobile Arena Las Vegas.
