No holding back for Hamilton in title bid

F1 News – Lewis Hamilton says he will ‘hit every race weekend as hard as he can’ in his quest to defend his Formula 1 world title from Nico Rosberg.

Lewis Hamilton says he cannot afford to do anything less than ‘go all out for every win’ as he faces a potentially critical weekend in the fight for the 2016 Formula 1 World Championship.

A third place finish in the Japanese Grand Prix, coupled to Nico Rosberg’s fourth win in five races, sees the defending champion come into this weekend’s United States Grand Prix facing a 33 point deficit with a maximum of 100 points up for grabs from the final four races.

A turnaround from last year’s Circuit of the Americas race when Hamilton wrapped up his third title with three races to spare, the Mercedes driver admits he cannot afford any more errors in order to retain his title.

“We’ve got four races left to make the most of it and that’s exactly what I plan to do. It’s just about hitting every race weekend as hard as I can, going all out for every win and seeing what happens from there. I’ll be holding nothing back out there.
“First up, we’re back in the States – which is like a second home race for me these days. I love the country, the culture, the people and the track, so I can’t wait to get started. I’ve got some great memories from Austin, with three wins from four races and, of course, the title win last year.

“That was one of the highlights of my career, no doubt. It’s almost like the American fans have adopted me as their own, so I’ll try to channel all of that positive energy into this weekend.”

Hamilton’s challenge comes as Mercedes savours its third constructors’ title, with Hamilton joining the celebrations in Brixworth and Brackley between events.

“Seeing all the guys and girls at the factory last week really brought home just what we’ve achieved together this year. They’ve worked so damned hard to give Nico and me this great car and you can see how much it means to them.
