Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t play by Christmas unless he cuts weight, says Eamon Dunphy
Football News – Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be out of the picture at Manchester United by Christmas, according to Irish football pundit Eamon Dunphy.
The former Republic of Ireland player was dismissive of Ibrahimovic’s impact at Old Trafford since arriving in the summer, accusing the Swede of being overweight.
Ibrahimovic has bagged four Premier League goals already this season, but Dunphy thinks the 34-year-old is clearly out of shape after watching him in the Manchester derby at the weekend.
‘Mourinho may have lost the plot permanently,’ Dunphy told Irish radio 2 FM.
He’s bought this fella Ibrahimovic who scored a fantastic goal at the weekend when the new wonderful goalkeeper dropped the ball at his feet.
‘Ibrahimovic won’t be in the team at Christmas. Not for the big games! He might knock over little teams like he’s been doing but he’s not a big game player.
‘He looked overweight and tired after 20 minutes.’
United lost 2-1 to Manchester City on Saturday after a blistering opening 40 minutes from their local rivals and Dunphy took aim at several other Red Devils after their performance.
‘Pogba, he didn’t look fit,’ he continued.
‘Neither did Wayne Rooney who ended the game with his socks around his ankles which is always a bad sign. He is a shadow of the player he was.
‘And this new centre-half Bailly looks like he’s a headbanger and should have been off the pitch at the weekend.’
