With West Ham starting to offer a little more in the second half, a brilliant through ball from Austin played in Dusan Tadic to make it 2-0.

Hit: Simone Zaza

Still trying to find his feet the Premier League, Italy international Simone Zaza appeared to be the only man in a West Ham shirt showing the passion and determination needed to get them out the rut they currently find themselves in.

Six defeats in their last seven games and West Ham are in real trouble.

Still without a goal to his name, Zaza was relentless in his efforts all afternoon and led from the front and at least gave West Ham fans something to cheer when he chased every lost cause.

Unfortunately, for West Ham, the rest of the team couldn’t match his effort.

Miss: Slaven Bilic

Slaven Bilic is under real pressure now at West Ham.

A superb first season in charge of the club has turned into a real nightmare now for the Croat.

The move to the Olympic stadium hasn’t gone well, he can’t buy a win and he even admitted that he has been so focused on the Irons that he has delayed naming his baby daughter.

The 48-year-old needs a miracle to turn things around for the Hammers, and he needs it find it quickly.

Miss: Dimitri Payet

In times of need you need your big players to stand and be counted for; Dimitri Payet did not do that today.

Absent for the majority of the first half, Payet offered very little to threaten Southampton as he drifted in and out of the game.

So many times he has been the hero for Bilic but today, when he was really needed, the Frenchman was nowhere to be seen.

Miss: Cheikhou Kouyate

Bilic will be pulling his hair out trying to find a solution for Cheikhou Kouyate’s painfully inconsistent performances.

Kouyate, who offered very little for West Ham and looked sluggish throughout, decided to go walk abouts in his own half, lose possession to Redmond and hand Southampton their second goal.

That ultimately put the game beyond West Ham’s reach leaves question marks about his naive awareness.
