China offered Arda Turan fortune, Barcelona declines
Football News – Arda Turan has revealed Barcelona rejected a massive offer from China for him.
50 million euros for Arda Turan. That’s the amount a Chinese Super League club offered Barcelona in the summer for the player’s services, according to the Turkish player himself speaking in an interview on Beyaz TV.
“Barça rejected the offer because they see me as a future investment.
“They didn’t sign me for just six months,” he revealed.
The 29-year-old initially saw his start to Barca life halted after he was forced to wait for his debut as a result of the club’s transfer ban.
In his first season Turan made only nine starts in La Liga under manager Luis Enrique and appeared to make little impression upon the starting XI.
The skilful midfielder was widely expected to depart the Nou Camp during the summer transfer window, with a host of teams linked with his signature on a permanent or loan deal basis.
But the Turkey international has started strongly in La Liga this season after remaining in Spain.
Turan has scored two goals and created three in five appearances so far during the campaign.
The 29-year-old is also currently in a precarious position with the Turkish national team, despite being his country’s captain for the last 10 years.
Turan was booed at Euro 2016 following Turkey’s underwhelming performances and has since been dropped by the national side.
‘I don’t accept the perception that I perform below expectations on the national stage. My Turkey performances were always better than my club performances. I love Turkey and our team,’ Turan said.
‘But I have been the captain of this team for 10 years. They (Turkey fans) booed me at the Croatia and Spain games. I was upset because we looked bad to Europe.
‘I don’t ask ‘Why am I not called up?’ I’m always ready for the national team and always will be if they call me.’
