Antoine Griezmann opens up on the idea of moving to Man United
Football Update: On Monday, the Independent broke the news that Man United’s hopes of signing Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann had nosedived.
At the same time, the UK news outlet claimed that Jose Mourinho had turned attention to trying to sign either Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe or Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski this summer.
A similar story has now been reported in Spain, as AS also report that Griezmann has made up his mind on moving to Man United in the summer.
So what’s the story?
AS announce that Antoine Griezmann has been convinced to stay at Atletico Madrid beyond this season.
They report the 25-year-old French international striker is happy in Madrid, and he wants with the Rojiblancos in 2017-18. Why? Because he feels hugely valued at the club.
Key to Griezmann’s decision is Diego Simeone. AS further state that not only will Griezmann remain with Atletico, so will their in-demand Argentine coach.
All this comes at a time when Atletico are about to move into their new stadium.
It’s also worth noting the claim in AS that Man United were willing to pay Griezmann the same top-level salary that Paul Pogba is on.
